For the fifth year running, and with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board, they want to recreate a special atmosphere and tell the story in a different way. Therefore, their program is both fun and educational, and participants get involved in the story because of the way the story is told. During the course of inspiring walks across the city, participants learn of who had made the first nativity scene, what kind of food the old people of Zagreb prepared for Christmas and how they heated during very cold winters; not to mention what a Christmas bonus actually means and other things alike. Other interesting facts are highlighted such as how a skating rink was made in the Zagreb of old, where was it best to sledge in the city, what the people of Zagreb did with excess snow and what would they give for gifts and alike. Today, a Christmas tree is one of the main symbols of the best season, but it was not always so; learn more about the long journey that pine had to pass to find itself in every family home. And due to various pagan influences in Christianity, the coming to the end of the year and this festive holiday in particular has some mystical elements, and participants will find out why it was at this time that people usually tried to look into the future.
