Warsaw No.97

The new Warsaw In Your Pocket is out. Get the PDF.

Welcome to wintry Warsaw and the first Warsaw In Your Pocket of 2017! The start of a new year brings with it a fresh and frigid start. While the weather may not be ‘tourist friendly’ per se, cold temperatures and snow drifts are the perfect excuse to get inside to see some of Warsaw’s many amazing museums. Whatever your area of interest may be – Art, History, Science, Music, Religion, Jewish History – Warsaw’s got you covered. We personally recommend taking in the impressive new POLIN Museum which was recently voted European Museum of the year.

February and March also typically bring with them a flurry of indoor entertainment options as well and 2017 doesn’t disappoint. Don’t miss Canadian electro pop songstress Austra in early March and for you classical music buffs, late March’s Night of the Proms is a must. Check out a full list of events in our new What’s On section on page 18. Let us know how you enjoyed Winter in Warsaw on our FB page or just good old-fashioned email: editor_poland@inyourpocket.com.

A CLOSER LOOK: Andrzej Wajda

Andrzej Wajda may not have been a household name, but without a doubt he was one of the greatest European filmmakers of his generation and hands down the greatest Polish filmmaker of all time. His passing last year has prompted IYP to take a closer look at some of his films. We start with his first three.
