On Sun Nov 28 we hosted our first ticketed Johannesburg In Your Pocket experience, inviting our readers to join us for a Sunday evening sunset drive up to Munro Drive.
The Sunset Rosé experience marked a celebratory end to our annual jacaranda photography competition which was our biggest yet. This year’s finalists were invited to join us for the trip and share their photography tips.
We teamed up with City Sightseeing for this experience. Starting from Rosebank our ride to Munroe Drive followed the City Sightseeing bus’s guided Green Route which takes in some of Joburg’s historic suburbs and spectacular trees.
At the Munro Drive lookout we stopped to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of Joburg’s urban forest with rosé from Pink Valley Wines and a special treat of handmade Belgian chocolates from Chocoloza.
Meeting us there was Houghton resident and local heritage enthusiast Andre Pierre Marais who shared insights into the neighbourhood’s history.
As the sun finally began to drop beneath the horizon it was time to get back on board the open-top bus and take a scenic drive back to Rosebank via Houghton and Parktown.
The Sunset Rosé experience was the first in what we plan to make a regular series of unique city adventures.
In 2022 we are excited to be launching our Johannesburg In Your Pocket members club, offering our special invites to city events, ticketed unique experiences and exclusive content and special offers.
