My French Film Festival
UNTIL FEB 14 Promoting the very best of contemporary French cinema, the annual online My French Film Festival presents 30 short and feature films, which can be streamed online for free at myfrenchfilmfestival.com. New Asian & Indian Food Market at Victoria Yards
SAT JAN 22 Victoria Yards in east Joburg launches a brand new foodie market on Saturday celebrating delicious homemade street food and deli goods from across Asia. Take your pick from Chinese dim sum, Japanese sushi, Vietnamese spring rolls, Indian samoosas, and more. Entrance is free. Open from 10:30 to 16:00.
Isandlwana Lecture: The Musical at Joburg Theatre
FRI JAN 21–SUN JAN 23 Courtesy of the Mbuso Khoza Institute for Culture and Heritage, Joburg Theatre remembers the epic battle of Isandlwana on the Mandela Stage, in stirring traditional Amahubo song. Tickets R300, book online here.
Orange Grove Waterfall Open Day with Joburg Heritage
SUN JAN 23 Joburg Heritage is working to restore the Orange Grove waterfall and on Sunday invites the public to join them for a walkabout of this natural wonder and a community clean up. Come prepared with comfortable shoes and suitable clothing and gardening gloves for getting your hands dirty. The open day is free, although prior registration is essential. SIFU (The Cage) at Market Theatre
UNTIL SUN JAN 30 Kicking off the year with a dedication to sharing the work of young theatre-makers, The Market Theatre presents SIFU, an award-winning Pedi-language production that centres around the life and struggles of a gardener named Masenya, whose life takes a new course when he meets a troubled young teen.
