Mmoho Block at Waterfall Park
SAT APR 30 AND SUN MAY 1 A chic new weekend market experience launched by the same team who created The Linden Market, Mmoho Block promises to showcase great local fashion and design, delicious food and designer cocktails. There’s also live music on the programme including performances by The Soil, Femi Koya and Thee Legacy among others. Entrance costs R50. Moving Into Dance – Ingress at Joburg Theatre
APR 29–MAY 1 Contemporary dance company Moving Into Dance returns to Joburg Theatre with its latest production Ingress. Audiences are in for a treat with three unique works including performances by acclaimed dancers and choreographers such as Oscar Buthelezi and Sunnyboy Motau. The Brother Moves On at Untitled Basement
FRI APR 29 One of Joburg’s favourite alternative music collectives The Brother Moves On celebrate their 12th birthday with a performance at Untitled Basement in Braamfontein. This show signals a coming of age for TBMO as they celebrate their 12th year. Getting the night started DJ Duo Just Jab (DJ Just Themba and Jab A Jaw) are on the decks. Doors open at 20:00. The Lifestyle Market at AgriFresh Farms
SAT APR 30 & SUN MAY 1 If you are looking to enjoy good food and a taste of the countryside this weekend then make your way to The Cradle of Humankind for this family-friendly farmer’s market. In addition to tasty food stalls and a beer garden, there’s also lots of activities for the kids including pony rides and game drives. AgriFresh Farms is located in Zwartkrans near Krugersdorp. Bioscope Sundays Stand-Up Comedy
SUN MAY 1 Every Sunday The Bioscope independent cinema in 44 Stanley host a live stand-up comedy showcase to end the week on a high. Up on the comedy stage this week are daring young upcomers Richelieu Beaunoir, Dakes and Ian Young. The show starts at 18:30. We recommend popping by earlier to enjoy drinks in the courtyard beforehand. Tickets R120, available online here.
Antique Fair Nelson Mandela Square
SUN MAY 1 This monthly antique fair at Nelson Mandela Square is back with the biggest collection of antique dealers from across the region taking part. Shop for period furniture and homeware, decorative arts and collectable memorabilia, and designer vintage fashion. Open 10:00–16:00, entrance is free.
Feel Good Series
SAT APR 30 The Feel Good Series’s monthly performance parties are back with a bang! Hip hop, Afrobeats, amapiano, house and everything else in between, the DJ line up for the day is fierce, led by headline act rapper Ricky Tyler. Takes place at Victoria Yards 12:00-21:00. Brooklyn Mall Monthly Antique Fair
SAT APR 30 If you are in Pretoria this weekend and are a vintage fan, then the monthly antique fair at Brooklyn Mall should also be on your radar!
