Horwood’s Farm Market
SAT MAR 5 & SUN MAR 6 Horwood’s Farm Market is a monthly market launching this weekend in the newly revived Horwood’s Farm park in Edenvale. Visitors can look forward to tasty food, fashion and gift stalls, a beer garden, kids entertainment and play area and live music throughout the weekend. Takes place at Horwood’s Farm (entrance on Homestead Rd), open Sat and Sun 09.30–16:00, entrance R20, kids under 8 Free.
The Linden Market Autumn Edition
SAT MAR 5 & SUN MAR 6 The Linden Market is back for its Autumn edition this weekend at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Emmarentia. Themed the ”Simply Autumn Edition”, there are more than 150 stalls showcasing all things local and artisanal, including fashion, art, decor, jewelry, and gifts complemented by live music and kids entertainment. The market is open Sat and Sun 09:00 – 16:30. Entrance R30 (kids under 12 free), tickets can be bought in advance online here.
Nelson Mandela Square Antique Fair
SUN MAR 6 This monthly antique fair at Nelson Mandela Square is one of the biggest of its kind with dozens of top collectors and antique dealers from across the region taking part. From furniture and homeware to decorative arts and collectable memorabilia, set aside some time to go browsing and you’ll no doubt find something special. Takes place 10:00–16:00, entrance is free.
The Paris New York Heritage (PNYH) International Festival
MAR 3–5 The Paris New York Heritage Festival (or PNYH) is an exciting international festival celebrating African art and music. The first days of the festival are dedicated to discussion while on Saturday is the main event, an international music festival. Acts on the lineup include Msaki, The Brother Moves On, Simmy, Bholoja and Raashan Ahmed from the USA and there’s food, drinks on fashion on sale courtesy of The Locrate Market. Takes place at Constitution Hill, tickets R300, available online here.
Soweto Record Fair
SUN MAR 6 Abijah Record Bar at The Box Shop on Soweto’s iconic Vilakazi Street presents a major sale of over 1000 vinyl records across a range of genres including jazz, pop, hip-hop, soul, funk, kwaito , electronic, and new school. There are also DJs on the decks throughout the day including Okapi, Charles Leonard, Soul Brother, Sanetran and La Casa Tropical. The fair is open 10:00–20:00 at The Box Shop, 7166-7176 Vilakazi St, Soweto. Entrance is free.
First Sundays at Victoria Yards
SUN MAR 6 Always a summer Sunday favourite, First Sundays at Victoria Yards made a fantastic February return and is back again this Sunday for more. In addition to the open artist studios and galleries, there’s also a great pop-up market with loads of vintage items on sale, delicious food trucks and pop-up bars and the best fish and chips in town. Entrance is free.
