Playa Del Carmen is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Mexico. It is on the beach, but that isn’t the only place you can spend your days. Take time to soak up some sun, but also look at the local restaurants, nightlife, parks, and natural scenery while you are there.
No matter the weather or time of year, you won’t ever find yourself bored in Playa Del Carmen. Take a look at some of these options to find something exciting to do with your time.
Visit a Spa
While Playa Del Carmen is a beautiful paradise, the weather isn’t always perfect. On rainy days, you may feel like you are stuck in your hotel with nothing to do, but that isn’t the case. Whether you want to get out of the rain, or you want to just take a day to yourself and relax, consider a day spa in Playa Del Carmen.
There are all kinds of spas in the area. Some offer simple massages, while others offer hot stones, herbal presses, facials, and even fish spas. Find one near you that you think you will enjoy, and spend the day having someone take care of you.
Go See the Mayan Ruins
A huge part of Mexican history is the Mayan Ruins. These ruins can be found throughout Mexico, with some being right in Playa Del Carmen. One set of ruins that are popular in the area is Chichen Itza, but there are also the Tulum Ruins, and Coba ruins.
Some of them you can easily get a ride up to, but many of them you have to walk. They are also open and sunny, so it is always a good idea to bring water and comfortable shoes.
You may want to get a tour as well. Even if you know a lot about the ruins, you may find that your tour guide has information and little-known facts.
Take a Cooking Class
Love Mexican cuisine and wish you could make it at home? With a cooking class, you can! While you should enjoy visiting as many restaurants as you can while you are in Mexico and getting authentic food, you can also learn to make it so you can have it whenever you want at home.
Playa Del Carmen has plenty of cooking classes, including Mexico Lindo Cooking. They offer a class in the middle of the jungle so you get a gorgeous view of the greenery in between their lessons.
Not only do you get to learn about recreating amazing dishes, but you also get the chance to watch the chef make food herself, and get a history of Mexico and the foods residents enjoy.
You can choose your experience as well, such as Yucatan delights, Mexico delights, coastal foods, and more. Whichever you choose, you won’t be disappointed, and you will leave happier and with more knowledge than you started with.
Explore Some Parks
There are plenty of parks and adventures to take in Playa Del Carmen. You can go see theater, such as Cirque du Soleil, find a ziplining park, try diving and snorkeling, and even go and see nature reserves and wilderness parks.
If you like a mix of wilderness, relaxation, and nature, there are two amazing parks in Playa Del Carmen. These are Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Xel-Ha is preferred by many, as it is all-inclusive, including food, drinks, and activities, so you can do any events and rides as much or as little as you want. However, both are amazing and worth a visit.
