Jacaranda season is one of our favourite times of year in Gauteng, especially as we get to host our annual #jacarandainyourpocket photo competition.
Supported by Gauteng Tourism, Gautrain and Radisson Red Rosebank, for this year’s jacaranda season photo contest, now in its fourth year, we organised six free guided jacaranda experiences in and around Rosebank that each ended with drinks and a panoramic view from the Radisson Red Rosebank rooftop.
From the hundreds of entries received via Instagram, our jury choose 10 finalists, selected for their variety, composition, inventiveness and skill. Only those images tagged with all four official competition hashtags were considered in this final selection.
We then opened up voting for the public to choose their favourite image. Close to 2000 people visited our poll.

These are the images you chose as the winners of this year’s #jacarandainyourpocket competition!
1st place – @eaglenaran
The first place winner receives a weekend stay for two at the Radisson Red Rosebank, including breakfast and a drink on the rooftop, a prize valued at R4,500.
2nd place – @lindacarter_photojourney
The 2nd place winner gets a one-night stay for two in a superior suite at The Northcliff boutique hotel, including breakfast, a prize valued at R2,600.
3rd place – @tasneems_photography
The 3rd place winner wins a one-night stay for two at Pablo House in Melville, including breakfast and a R500 dinner voucher, a prize valued at R2,300
Voter’s prize draw
We also hosted a prize draw for everyone who voted in our competition and is a subscriber to our weekly newsletter. Our two lucky voters prize draw winners win city experiences for two from Honest Travel Experiences and Microadventure Tours. The winners are:
