Mix Cocktail Bar Jazz Club Sessions

Kopano Jazz Collective

EVERY WED The best way to get through the middle of the week is with a little live jazz! Every Wednesday head over to the sexy Mix Cocktail Bar at the Trumpet building at Keyes Art Mile in Rosebank from 19:00 for jazzy tunes by Kopano Jazz Collective. Bring along some friends and make an evening of it with cocktails, food, soulful music connection and great sunset views. Entrance is free although booking is essential. Find out more.

Date Night at Marabi Club

THU AUG 18, AUG 25 & SEP 1 Spice up date nights with a three-course meal, glass of wine, and live music on Thursdays at Joburg’s coolest underground bar The Marabi Club. Guests can enjoy a delicious glass of wine on arrival, two mouth-watering starters, two delectable mains, and a beautiful dessert to share. Friday Drinks at Even After All

FRI AUG 19 Head down to 44 Stanley and enjoy your Friday night cocktails and DJ sets at the fun 70s diner-inspired spot Even After All who are hosting a party with Bilal Da DJ. Throw on the retro leather jacket, grab your mates and enjoy the groovy house tunes from Soweto’s Bilal Da DJ. Admission is free.

The Playground

SAT AUG 20 9 On Saturdays, all roads lead to Braamfontein’s The Playground market with a jam-packed line-up of brilliant food, cocktails, DJs and live music, and the coolest collection of local street fashion on sale. The weekend starts here! The market is open 09:00–18:00, entrance is free until 11:00, thereafter entry costs R20.

Pick Your Own Fruit and Veg at Ganico Organic Farm

SUN AUG 21 Lemon season is upon us in Joburg and you get to bring along the family to pick out some Lisbon lemons and other herbs and vegetables at Ganico Organic Farm in Muldersdrift. The farm gates opens at 10:00 for visitors to come and start harvesting and close at 14:00. During your visit you can also join a guided tour of the farm (every 30 minutes) to learn about growing food organically. Booking is essential and space is very limited. Costs R185 for a farm box of your own picked lemons, edible flowers and veggies. Book online here. The Ganico Organic Farm is located at 250 Tuohyvale Rd Krugersdorp.

UNTIL SUN AUG 21 To celebrate the theatre’s 60th birthday, Joburg Theatre stages a spectacular new production of Mozart’s classic “opera buffa” Don Giovanni. For this major celebratory show, the theatre has pulled out all the stops with an international cast of performers, a full symphony orchestra, and dazzling sets. Singing the role of Don Ottavio is South African-born tenor Musa Nkuna, who is also an artistic consultant on this production. Tickets cost R250-R550. Find out more and book here.
