We stumble upon this article in Variety on Wrocław‘s emergence on the fields of cinema and art. This Polish City has not only become an important industrial and business centre, but it is certainly a new hub in Poland and Europe for cultural and artistic investment, currently sharing the title of European Capital of Culture with San Sebastian, Spain.
Steven Spielberg even used the city as the double for Cold War Berlin in his Oscar-nominated pic “Bridge of Spies.”
The magazine underlines two major festivals:
- The New Horizons Film Festival established in 2001 and their main venue and headquarters, the old Helios cinema, now the Nowy Horizonty Cinema, after the festival’s name.
- The American Film Festival which draws a fair amount of independent films to the Polish audience.
