Dear readers of Warsaw In Your Pocket,

Hello everyone! February and March were not the warmest months of the year in Poland and at this time of year one does not meet colourful tables, full of guests outside. However I have some comforting news for you as there are numerous places offering interesting cultural and tourist attractions.

Wilanow Palace is open daily and the magical garden of the king is a good place for a walk, which certainly will warm you up. There are also great light and sound shows until 12/03/17 (from 16.00-21.00).

I have a great suggestion for those who love the sound of Chopin‘s music. The project: Time for Chopin takes place at 18.00 daily, regardless of the weather, with concerts performed in the side wing of the Royal Castle Square (pl. Zamkowy 8). It is a masterful performance by fantastic artists. Additionally, its excellent location overlooking the garden and with a panorama of the Vistula River will make you feel special.

Personally, I have a special sentiment for the Museum of Miniatures, which is located in the former bank of William Landau, one of the few monuments which survived the horrors of World War II. Find it at 38 Senatorska Street (ul. Senatorska 38). There, you can admire reconstructions of buildings such as the Palace of Kronenberg, the Warsaw Stock Exchange Building, Exhibition Halls, the wooden theatre from the Saxon Gardens and many others in a 1:25 scale. The creators of the museum include Rafał Kunachen as well as many architects and historians are they are currently working on a new reconstruction of the Great Synagogue among others.

February and March in Warsaw is a time of events and concerts dedicated to fans of both classical music and entertainment. The former can choose something among many performances of the National Opera including Nabucco by Verdi, William Tell by Rossini, Don Quixote or Norma by Bellini. There are also concerts at the Warsaw Philharmonic and the Roma Musical Theatre, where, in February only, you can see Mamma Mia! which has played for many seasons.

Jazz fans are invited by Katarzyna and Tomasz Pierchała, the owners and creators of the best jazz club in Poland – 12on14Jazz Club, to visit them at 16 Noakowskiego Street (ul. Noakowskiego 16). Traditional jazz in a slightly different climate can be found at the Harenda Club each evening from 20:00 (except Sunday)

There’s a lot offer for fans of rock and pop music in Torwar including Apocalyptica, the Finnish group which plays the songs of Metallica (17.02); Gregorian Choir, which successfully combines the sounds of medieval chants with contemporary pop and rock (18.02); Sukhishili, a spectacular show by The National Ballet of Georgia (28.03); Sleeping Beauty performed by the Moscow City Ballet (16.03); Chinese National Circus acrobats with their show, Grand Hong Kong Hotel (6.03) and after several years away Macy Gray returns to Warsaw (7.03).

One of the biggest musical events of the year is the performance by the legendary Sting, who will perform at Torwar (27.03) with his ‘Sting – 57th & 9th’ tour. Klub Hybrydy invites you to a concert which sees the return of the well-known band Versailles. Alex Claire promotes a new album of music about interpersonal relationships. Klub Stodoła has invited a legend of blues, John Mayall, to perform in Warsaw. The musician has released more than 50 albums

Of course, as usual, we invite you to take a walk or trip to discover Warsaw’s better and lesser known sights and your concierge will be pleased to organise that for you.

After a busy day we hope that you find some time to relax and there’s nothing better than music and delicious drinks, prepared by our expert bartenders at the Panorama Bar on the 40th floor of the Marriott Hotel from where you can admire a magnificent view of Warsaw.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy your stay in Warsaw.
